The awards recognise the outstanding individuals, schools, clubs and organisations who are helping Wyre move more, live well and thrive together.

Held at the Civic Centre, the awards ceremony brought together the unsung heroes of Wyre who give their time, energy and passion to help others move more, live well and feel connected. This year saw an incredible 81 nominations submitted across the categories, highlighting the strength and diversity of Wyre’s active community.

The 2025 winners are:

• Volunteer of the Year – Richard and Victoria Boehme, for their tireless work with Fleetwood Scouts, creating unforgettable experiences for local children.
• School of the Year – Kirkland and Catterall St Helens C of E Primary School, a small school with a mighty heart, where every child is given the chance to thrive through sport and outdoor learning.
  • Highly Commended: Nateby Primary School
• Activating Communities Award – Together We Can Do, for their inclusive sports sessions that empower adults with disabilities.
  • Highly Commended: Julie Brooks
• Coach of the Year – Mike Barkworth, whose leadership at Fleetwood Rugby Club has transformed not just a team, but a community.
  • Highly Commended: Ross Goodwin
• Health & Wellbeing Award – Adrian Kalinski, for creating a safe, welcoming space at Thornton YMCA where people feel seen, supported and inspired.
  • Highly Commended: Gemma Shaw and June Young
• Inclusivity and Diversity Award – Play Inclusion Project, a charity giving children with additional needs the chance to play, grow and connect.
  • Highly Commended: Lisa Richardson and Together We Can Do
• Club of the Year – Rascals Enhancing Lives CIC, a lifeline for families and individuals, offering inclusive sports and unwavering support every day of the week.
  • Highly Commended: Paula Boscott School of Dance

From inclusive sports sessions and post-natal wellbeing support to forest school initiatives and community-led coaching, the awards showcased the incredible work being done to improve lives through physical activity. Each winner was nominated by their community and the people whose lives they’ve touched.

Wyre Council extends its thanks to all nominees, judges, and supporters who made the event possible. The awards are part of the wider Wyre Moving More initiative, which aims to support residents to be more active in ways that suit their lives.
